Over the past week, Destiny 2 players found out that the game includes a system that makes experience scale depending on the rate at which is acquired. Today Bungie posted an announcement addressing concern caused by this discovery.

According to the developer, XP scales upwards when playing “longer or fixed duration activities like Crucible competitive multiplayer matches and the Leviathan Raid,” while scales downwards while playing “activities that can be quickly, repeatedly chained, like grinding Public Events.”

Bungie mentions that the team is “not happy with the results,” acknowledging that the community isn’t happy as well. As a result, they are deactivating the system effective immediately.

Due to that, XP gain will change across the board but will be consistent with values displayed in the UI, which was not the case before. The development team will continue to review XP data to make sure that it meets their expectations, and that of the players and any further changes will be communicated via official channels.

Destiny 2 is currently available for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Is first expansion Curse of Osiris will launch on December 5th for all platforms. You can check out its first trailerour recent article breaking down the expansion’s features, and the rather spectacular opening cinematic.
