Today’s issue of Weekly Famitsu included the magazine’s sales ranking for the month of September (more precisely from August 28th to September 24th) in the Japanese digital download marketplace. This month is quite interesting, as it sees the debut of Destiny 2, which had a pretty underwhelming debut at retail compared to its predecessor.

  1. Pokémon Gold/Silver – 3DS – 78,834
  2. Destiny 2 – PS4 – 26,242
  3. Everybody’s Golf – PS4 – 20,563
  4. Dragon Quest X – Switch – 19,959
  5. Splatoon 2 – 18,652
  6. Pro Evolution Soccer 2018 – 11,652
  7. Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition – 10,763
  8. Pokkén Tournament DX – 10,182
  9. Dragon Quest X – PS4 – 6,348
  10. Dragon Quest XI – PS4 – 5,685

First of all, we see that Destiny 2 sold a solid 26,242 copies in the digital marketplace, but that isn’t enough to get even close to the performance of the first Destiny across PS4 and PS3. It’s actually beaten by Pokémon Gold/Silver, which sold more digitally than physically.

That being said, the overall best seller for the month is the dark horse Everybody’s Golf for PS4, that totals 165,074 copies between physical and digital, with its digital sales allowing it to edge just above Splatoon 2 for Nintendo Switch.

While the Switch version of Dragon Quest X sold more than the PS4 version during the month, that’s just because the PS4 port launched in August, and not in September.

Dragon Quest XI was definitely on the way out, with digital sales on PS4 placing in 10th place, and falling off the chart for 3DS, even if the 3DS version sold more during September if you include retail, with a grand total of 77,336 copies against 45,739.
