Motion Twin’s roguelike Metroidvania title Dead Cells has become quite popular on Steam since it hit Early Access back in May of 2017. The developers have continued to support the game since launch with a plethora of updates, with The Foundry Update releasing back in late December. Now, the developers have confirmed in a new video that Dead Cells will be receiving a price increase once the Steam Winter Sale ends.

Up until now, Dead Cells has been available on PC for $16.99, though it is currently discounted to $12.74 as part of the Steam Winter Sale. After the aforementioned sale ends at 1pm ET on January 4, 2018, the price of Dead Cells will rise up to $19.99. The developers even hint in their newest video that the price may increase yet again once Dead Cells leaves Early Access, which it will hopefully do sometime in 2018.

As for that video, it begins by one of the game’s developers going over all of the features that have been added since Dead Cells since its initial launch. He ends off that segment by saying that the developers feel like the game is at a point where the game is mechanically solid enough to the point where the developers can focus on things like creating new levels and finishing up the game for its full launch.

Towards the end of the video, the price increase is confirmed and was later set in stone in a Steam Community post by the developers. It is also here where the developers hint that we may see another price increase once Dead Cells leaves Early Access. The developer also says that Motion Twin still has “a lot of work to do,” but that won’t stop them from continuing to update the Early Access version of the game.
