Sure, the Dark Souls and Souls game communities are known to push the gaming scene to their limits. But nothing is like watching the brand new world record set by Twitch streamer Squillakilla. In a brand new run of the game, Squillakilla has managed to do the impossible — beat all the bosses in the original Dark Souls without taking a single point of damage.

The video has been making its round today among the dedicated Dark Souls community, understandably blowing people’s mind. For context, this is different than a (comparatively) simple “No Hit” run. While a No Hit run will let you accumulate damage from the environment (for instance, lava or fall damage), a No Damage run means that you aren’t allowed to take any damage through the entire game. A theoretical perfect run, where you maintain 100% health throughout.

If you’ve played Dark Souls (or any FromSoftware game), you will immediately register how impossible this sounds upfront. This would mean going through the Catacombs and Blighttown without a single hit, on top of facing every single boss in the game — including the DLC bosses. Yet (like all great streamers) Squillakilla makes it look effortless. You can see how casually he reacts to downing the final boss Gwyn in the clip below:

Of course, that is just the ending — if you want to catch the full 3:26:31 speedrun, you can check it out in the video below. This is compared to some other amazing projects coming out of the various dedicated Souls game communities, like reviving a cut Bloodborne boss using modding tools.

With that said, January has been an amazing month for speedrunners, regardless of the game. For instance, Chilean streamer Parallax managed to crush the Mortal Kombat 3 world record with a mind-boggling 4:34 speedrun using Kabal. On top of that, the speedrun community announced that Awesome Games Done Quick 2020 managed to raise $3.13 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

In any case, the original Dark Souls is available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, and Xbox One (along with legacy generations). If you want to take a swing at the record, or simply check out the game for the first time, feel free to grab a physical version of the remastered edition on Amazon to help support the site.
