Announced on today’s Nintendo Direct Mini, Bandai Namco and FromSoftware are bringing its critically acclaimed title to the Nintendo Switch in the form of Dark Souls: Remastered. A new trailer was revealed alongside the game’s unveiling.

While nothing was detailed about the upcoming remaster, the trailer does show some updated graphics as an armored figure —presumably, the player’s character — ignites one of the game’s many bonfires in the game’s hub location, the Firelink Shrine.

Dark Souls initially released back in October 2011 in North America bringing its unique and difficult combat to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360; it eventually came to PC in August 2012. It is a spiritual successor to FromSoftware’s 2009 title Demon’s Souls which was available exclusively on PlayStation 3.

Dark Souls would go on to influence a slew of titles such as last year’s Nioh, Absolver, and Bandai Namco’s upcoming action JRPG Code Vein. It also spawned two sequels with Dark Souls II — which was not directed by Hidetaka Miyazaki — and Dark Souls III.

Dark Souls: Remastered will launch for the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on May 25th, 2018.

This is just one of many games revealed on today’s Nintendo Mini Direct. Check back on the site for more of its reveals and updates to the Switch’s growing library of titles.
