Over the past 24-hours, journalists from other outlets have been announcing that they’re playing The Last of Us Part 2 for review, and the embargo for that review lifts on June 12, a week before the game is slated to launch. It seems as if Cory Barlog, director of God of War is also, unsurprisingly, playing the game, and he seems to have enjoyed it. Just an obvious warning, if you’re avoiding spoilers it’s best to avoid reading the comments anywhere.

While journalists aren’t allowed to share any opinions on the game, with most sharing the icon on the PS4 dashboard and others sharing the title screen which features a boat, it seems Barlog can at least hype it up. Tweeted yesterday, Cory uploaded a tweet tagging the Naughty Dog account followed by “Fuck. Yes.” finished with a heart emoji and a GIF of an audience clapping. Neil Druckmann, Director of The Last of Us Part 2 replied with a blushing cartoon bird.

It’s clear that he enjoyed it, and looks as if he’s possibly completed it. And it’s nice to see the two directors have made up after the BAFTA Game Awards meltdown situation. Obviously, I’m joking. They never fell out. No further information about Barlog’s experience is revealed and we’ll have to wait for the review embargo to lift before thoughts can be shared. You’ll also have to wait a touch longer than others for DualShockers’ review.

The Last of Us Part 2 is holding a State of Play today which should touch more on gameplay. You can expect to see it going live at 4:00pm EST/1:00pm PST and in addition, next month will find the official podcast going live on June 9. The game has reportedly been banned in some Middle Eastern countries, no doubt because of the ESRB rating’s details.

The Last of Us Part 2 is launching on June 19 exclusively for PS4.
