Now, six of their fan-favorite games will be coming to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, and consoles in general, for the first time ever as Enhanced Editions that will be available both at retail and digitally. A selection of the titles will be playable at the Skybound Games booth at PAX East in Boston which will be running from March 28-31, 2019. This also coincides with the anniversary of Skybound Games’ formation underneath Skybound Entertainment, most known for their work publishing Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead comics as well as other fan-favorite series Invincible. Skybound Games is also the company that swooped in after the collapse of Telltale Games to salvage The Walking Dead The Final Season.

“These games are iconic, including Baldur’s Gate, which has really set the standard for Dungeons & Dragons computer roleplaying games,” said Skybound Games CEO Ian Howe. “We’re excited to bring Beamdog’s incredible slate to new platforms for both the dedicated fan and those who will soon discover these adventures for the first time. As longtime fans of Baldur’s Gate and Dungeons & Dragons it’s fantastic to partner with Beamdog as the newest member of the Skybound family.”

More information is to come in the following months about their specific release dates and box contents.

Beamdog first appeared in 2011 publishing MDK2 Wii underneath Interplay and then went on to release enhanced editions of the six aforementioned games as Enhanced Editions. Baldur’s Gate was developed by Bioware and Black Isle Studios in 1998, Planescape: Torment was developed by Black Isle Studios in 1999, Neverwinter Nights came from Bioware in 2002, and Icewind Dale came from Black Isle Studios in 2000. All were published underneath Interplay Entertainment and are collectively known as the best RPGs of all time. Most were unavailable due to Interplay’s decline, advancements in PC hardware, as well as the lack of digital distribution for them until GOG secured them in 2008. They are all available on PC currently and will soon be coming to console, presumably with very different control schemes for the controllers.
