It’s been a great couple of days for The Forest. After a three-year hiatus from the PlayStation news scene, we got a brand new trailer for the slasher-survival title announcing that the game is still in development, and gamers can expect the title to release in 2018. And following that announcement, we got brand new gameplay footage showing off the first 15 minutes of The Forest.

Seen in the video below, some members of Endnight Games took the PlayStation Experience stage to add some commentary to the demo. Beginning on the plane, we witness the malfunction and inevitable crash. The protagonist grabs a fireaxe from the plane and heads outside, immediately scavenging for things in suitcases, luggage, and the picturesque forest that can help you survive.

Following that, we get a glimpse of building some shelter as well as hunting some local wildlife. Finally, after enough of the serene gameplay, the Endnight Games team finds a hole in the ground that is a lot less peaceful. In gameplay straight out of The Descent, you can only see a foot in front of your face via lighter flame and six-legged monstrosities. Until that same beast kills him.

The Forest is currently available in Early Access on PC, with no listed release date; as mentioned above, The Forest will be coming to PS4 sometime in 2018. Check out the demo and commentary below:
