Matt Thorson rose to prominence in the indie scene when he released the fun archery-based multiplayer title Towerfall in 2013; Noel Barry, on the other hand, is known for creating Skytorn. In 2016, these developers announced that they were partnering to release Celeste, a tough 2D platformer. Last year, the developers revealed that Celeste would be releasing on Nintendo Switch in January alongside the game on other platforms. Today we finally got a release date: January 25.

This news came as part of today’s Nintendo Direct Mini alongside a plethora of other release date announcements. Unfortunately, creator Noel Barry later confirmed on Twitter that Celeste won’t be hitting Xbox One until January 26, one day after the other versions of the game.

During the Direct, Celeste’s Assist mode was also unveiled. While the game is normally pretty tough, Assist Mode will allow players to tweak the game’s difficulty to their liking by doing things such as making things happen in the game at a slower pace or giving the player full-on invincibility at the other extreme.

For those of you who don’t know, Celeste is a 2D platformer focused on the trails and tribulations of climbing a mountain. The game is set to include over 600 different levels that will test players’ skills and may take inspiration from other popular 2D platformers.

You can check out some new screenshots and artworks for the Nintendo Switch version of the game below. Celeste will release on PC, PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on January 25, 2018
