Would you look at that, the complaining actually worked out in our favor. After an extensive amount of complaining from fans over the past three days or so, Treyarch has decided to not only revert back to the old Tier system in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, but to improve upon it in new ways, thanks to a new update released earlier this evening.
For those that don’t know, last season players could earn content through the Tier Contraband system for 100 ranks, after which they could earn cases, which included even more content. After Tuesday’s update, however, not only could you not earn reserve cases after Tier 100, but it also took longer to earn them. This caused fans to explode in outrage. Now, players can once again earn Tiers after 100, but you’ll now also earn reserve crates at double the speed as before. Oh, and if you bought up to the 100th Tier already and you’re earning all the Tiers after, you’ll now be given free reserve cases based on the number of Tiers you’ve ranked up since 100 (ie. if you got to Tier 120, you’ll receive 20 reserve crates for free)
In a Reddit post detailing the new update, Treyarch said that all the problems associated with the new Tier system were unintended and were only meant to help the community and fans gets more items. Regardless of whether or not you believe that, the developer did fix the issue after just a couple of days, so you have to give them props.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC.
