In a move that surprisingly took longer than expected, Breaking Bad, one of the most critically-acclaimed shows in the history of television, will soon be receiving a free-to-play mobile game counterpart later this year.

Breaking Bad: Criminal Elements is the name of the game and it will be coming from developer Plamee and publisher FTX Games. Criminal Elements will be a strategy game and will feature famous characters from the show including Walter White, Jesse Pinkman, Gus Fring, and Mike Ehrmantraut. The goal will seemingly be to build your own meth empire all while having to make tough decisions. I have a feeling this one might be rated M.

Vince Gilligan, the creative lead behind Breaking Bad, released the following statement about Criminal Elements, expressing optimism for what the game has in store:

“[FTX Games] care as much about the details as our creative team, and I have been very impressed with their commitment to building an authentic extension of the series’ story universe. I think this will be a fun experience for fans, to interact with characters from Breaking Bad in a completely new way.”

Ancillary details of Criminal Elements and gameplay footage for the title still haven’t been revealed. A specific release date also hasn’t been provided other than a broad 2019 window.

To hold you over until release, you should watch the Breaking Bad spin-off Better Call Saul if you haven’t done so already. In my esteemed opinion, that is a show that I would classify as “very good.”
