Blue Reflection’s Transformation Scene Feels Like Sailor Moon in Video Game Form

If there is one thing that simply can’t be absent in any form of media dedicated to magical girls (including Gust’s Blue Reflection, of course), it’s the transformation scene.

Since the times of Sailor Moon, but even much earlier with Creamy Mami and many more, fictional Japanese schoolgirls have twirled and pirouetted waving around strange contraptions and chanting weird mantras, donning their magical suits among stars, hearts and flashes of light.

Blue Reflection is no exception, and it has its own transformation scene, which actually looks really good, with clear Sailor Moon-ish inspiration.

Today Koei Tecmo released a video showing just that, in order to give us an appetizer of all that magic. The difference is that protagonist Hinako Shirai is a Reflector (ok, that’s not a really relevant difference at all), and she fights with a sword, and not with a weird heart-shaped wand.

You can check it out below, and see what I mean. If you want to see more, you can check out the latest trailer and screenshots, and read our latest interview with producer Junzo Hosoi.

Blue Reflection is coming to PlayStation 4 and PC-via Steam on September 26 in North America and September 29 in Europe.
