Blackout Mode’s item pickup mechanic in Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII has been changed slightly. Previously players would have to hold the pickup button (Square on PlayStation 4 and X on Xbox One) in order to add an item to their inventory. This was a complaint found among most players of the Blackout mode and now has been changed due to that feedback. Instead of having to hold you can now change the option to a simply press the button in order to pick up loot but means you will not reload your weapon.

This update for Blackout Mode’s item pickup comes from David Vonderhaar, Game Design Director at Treyarch, who posted an image to twitter containing an image that shows the swappable option. He cautions players to know that this means players who want to reload while looking at loot won’t be able to.

Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII will include Call of Duty’s take on the popular battle royale mode in which tons of players drop onto a map and compete until only one is left standing. Blackout mode includes maps from across the Black Ops franchise and merges them into one. A beta for Blackout mode ran from September 10-17 and experienced some changes, such as an increase to both the maximum player count and speed at which the map condenses.
