Bethesda Surprise Launches The Elder Scrolls: Blades on Switch

Android, iOS, News, Nintendo Switch, Originals, Starfield, Switch, The Elder Scrolls 6, The Elder Scrolls Blades

After being delayed last November, Bethesda has surprise-released The Elder Scrolls: Blades on Nintendo Switch today for free.

Blades was available in early access last May on iOS and Android, with a Nintendo Switch version announced during Bethesda’s E3 2019 conference last year. For Switch users, you can buy a bundle for $14.99 which includes 30,000 gold, 2,000 gems, building materials, an exclusive Sylvan decoration, and some rare gear.

For those that don’t know, Blades is a first-person Elder Scrolls game for mobile where you face enemies one-on-one and you use touch controls or the analog sticks for the Switch version. The game features three modes that have players journey through an endless dungeon, a PvP mode against two players, and the third mode has players in a hub area where you can accept quests and play the game’s story.

In addition to the Switch version’s release, update 1.7 is out which includes six new quests, PvP awards and leaderboard, and a brand new decoration in honor of the game’s full release. One other highlight is the game supports cross-progression across iOS, Android, and the Nintendo Switch. This also lets players chat and battle their friends regardless of what platform they’re playing on.

This isn’t the only Elder Scrolls related news to drop this week. Bethesda’s Pete Hines recently said that The Elder Scrolls VI, the next main game in the series, won’t release anytime soon. It was announced during their E3 2018 conference alongside Starfield, which will supposedly release before The Elder Scrolls VI.

The Elder Scrolls: Blades is available now on Nintendo Switch, iOS, and Android for free. If you’re interested in checking it out, you can watch the latest trailer below. As more news drops about the Elder Scrolls franchise, we’ll be sure to let you know.
