Atelier Lydie & Soeur for PS4, Switch and PS Vita Gets 1080p Screenshots; Shows Older Sophie and Liane

Atelier Lydie & Soeur: Alchemists of the Mysterious Painting, Gust, News, Originals, PS Vita, PS4, Switch

It just turned Monday in Japan, which means that, as usual, we get a bunch of Gust goodies, in the form of a batch of screenshots, illustrations and information on the upcoming JRPG Atelier Lydie & Soeur: Alchemists of the Mysterious Painting.

First and foremost, we see two returning characters from the previous games of the Mysterious series.

Sophie Neuenmuller is back for her third game, and she is now 24 years old. She has been traveling for a long time, and she advises Lydie and Soeur as a mentor. Yet, she seems to be still searching for something. Her ability as an alchemist is now considerable, close to that of her own teacher.

Liane Mistroot from Atelier Firis: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Journey is also back. She is now 22 years old, and she works as a professional hunter. She runs a shop in Melville named “Lovely Firis” in which she sells things picked up while hunting, in order to help with her sister’s atelier management fund. She has a calm demeanor and she is a very good hunter, but she is excessively protective of her sister. Apparently, she loves her even more than before.

A new character is also introduced, and it’s Matthias Ferrier Adalette. He a 23 years old knight in training, belonging to an order in Melville. Flirty and friendly, he hides a serious side that leads him to protect the ladies. He is a good swordsman and has an older sister.

We also get to see and learn more about alchemy. Using an item as a catalyst adds bonus effects to the tiles. Filling the bonus tiles with materials activates various beneficial results. Using an “activation item,” which is a new feature of this game, creates an even greater effect. At the end of the process, choosing the item’s properties (if available) completes the deed.

Last, but not least, we see some beautiful crystal caves that can be found in one of the world within the paintings.

The game (which was teased by Gust in June) will be released in Japan for PS4, PS Vita and Nintendo Switch in Winter 2017. At the moment there is no information about a western localization, but since it’s by Gust and Koei Tecmo, it’s very likely that it’ll come.

You can check out the screenshots below, and you can also give a look to the previous batch.
