Nintendo fans need to come to terms with this — we may never get a new Wave Race game. Despite the jet ski classics making several Virtual Console appearances (and a precarious trademark filing in Europe), there simply hasn’t been any news of a new version since 2001’s Wave Race: Blue Storm for GameCube. And while it is not the canon release series fans are looking for, developer Zordix’s Aqua Moto Racing Utopia may be the next best thing.

Originally released two years ago for both PC and PlayStation 4, Zordix is teaming up with publisher Bigben Interactive to bring the game for Nintendo Switch. Even better, the game isn’t too far off from release — gamers will be able to get their hands on the Nintendo Switch version of Aqua Moto Racing Utopia sometime in February.

The select few who have kept their eye on the development of Aqua Moto Racing Utopia will note this isn’t the first time Zordix has promised a Nintendo release of the game. The jet ski title was originally revealed for both the Wii U and hinted at for the New Nintendo 3DS. However, both versions of the game seemed to be on hiatus as both systems got overshadowed by the Switch’s popularity.

Regarding the game itself, Aqua Moto Racing Utopia offers a generally robust selection of game modes — seven in total. Included in these modes are championships, single-player, four player split-screen, and online gameplay. Along with that, the game shows off roughly 45 different types of jet skis — which I assume is every time of jet ski that actually exists.

As mentioned above, Aqua Moto Racing Utopia is available right now for PC and PlayStation 4; the game will come to Nintendo Switch sometime in February 2018. Check out the brand new reveal trailer below:
