Agony’s Adult-Only PC Patch Unlocking Censored Content Canceled Due to Legal Reasons

Agony, Madmind Studios, News, PC, PS4, Xbox One

It’s safe to say that Agony has not had a smooth journey through the depths of censorship hell. The first-person survival horror from Madmind Studios has had to have some scenes censored in order to be accepted by rating agencies.

That being said, the developer explains that many scenes that were planned to be included in a patch will now be part of the main game. Censorship only involves several seconds from two different endings out of the available seven, and some scenes that may be unlocked after the end of the game.

The following content will be featured in the game:

  • Gore
  • Brutal Sex Scenes
  • Lesbian and Gay Sex Scenes
  • Genital Physics
  • Eye Gouging
  • Heart Plucking
  • Children Heads Exploding
  • Setting Fire to Martyrs and Demons
  • Intense Violence
  • Strong Language
  • Drugs

The bad news comes at the end of the announcement as we learn that Madmind Studios will be unable to push out a planned PC patch that was designed to remove the censorship in Agony. This patch was due to arrive post-launch only for PC versions, but it would cause the studio to risk having the game banned, and them being sued.

The folks at Madmind Studios decided to be transparent, and they’re going to showcase the censored content on a video coming on April 30th, letting players see exactly what was removed in order to get the game on the digital shelves.

If you want a rough idea of what the game is like, you can check out over five minutes of gameplay, running you through the horrific hallways of hell and the creatures that lurk there.

Agony will be available on the 29th of May 2018 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
