Originally released at the end of last month, the brutal console and PC title Agony gained a lot of attention for some of its graphic content that had to be cut from the game in order to avoid an AO rating at the time of its release. While its developer Madmind Studio had plans to integrate some of that cut content into an “unrated version” of the game, it appears plans for that version of the game will not be moving forward.

In a post on the game’s Steam Community page, developer Madmind Studio announced that its work on Agony Unrated, a planned unrated version of the game that would incorporate more risque content that wouldn’t have been eligible for a Mature rating, will be ending as the studio is “currently struggling with financial problems,” while also citing “technical and legal reasons” for ending the unrated version’s development.

While plans for the unrated version of the game have been put to an end, Madmind added that a part of its team will continue to support the title on consoles and PC through the introduction of new patches and updates. Specifically, the studio addressed that a patch for the game will address an issue on Xbox One X, while another patch will be coming to the game across all platforms later this week that will “introduce many fixes and a highly refined lighting system.”

Agony is available now on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
