Ace Combat 7 Producer Comments on Switch Port Possibility; Explains Why it Became Multiplatform

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, Kazutoki Kono, Originals, PC, PS4, Switch, Xbox One

At the beginning of the year, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown ceased to be a PS4 exclusive and officially moved to the realm of multiplatform games with the announcement of a release for Xbox One and PC.

Today DualShockers asked Producer Kazutoki Kono the reason behind that decision.

Kono-san mentioned that it was an easy decision, because they want the whole world to be able to play the game, and one platform is not enough for the whole world.

As a consequence, we asked about the possibility of a port on Nintendo Switch, and Kono-san explained that the Switch is a “very attractive platform,” but he doesn’t think it could handle Ace Combat 7‘s technology.

We also hear that the team is currently considering how to support PS4 Pro. The same goes for Xbox One X, but it’s too early for a final decision on it.

If you want to see more of the game, you can check out my own gameplay from earlier today, the newest trailer and screenshots. You can also enjoy another recent batch of screenshots, and the previous story trailer.

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown will release in 2018 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
