In an image posted to the game’s official Facebook page, it looks as though developer GalaxyTrail’s 2D platformer Freedom Planet is coming to the Nintendo Switch at some point. The image, which can be seen below, shows the limited physical version of the game sitting on top of a Nintendo Switch console.

After a successful Kickstarter campaign, Freedom Planet released on PC back in 2014 as well as Mac and Linux in April of 2015. As for its release on console, the game eventually came to the Nintendo eShop on Wii U in 2016 as well as the PS4 in 2017. The title was initially meant to be a Sonic the Hedgehog fan project but quickly turned into something more original with little homages and nods still sprinkled throughout it. Unlike retro Sonic the Hedgehog titles you can use more conventional physical attacks to take out different enemies in each level.

Back in 2015, Freedom Planet 2 was announced. Some very early gameplay of one of the series’ main protagonists, Lilac, was shown off in late 2016. In early 2017, we got some new gameplay of Carol, one of the other protagonists in the story. The sequel was supposed to be available sometime in 2017 but has yet to get a solid release date.
