It’s over three months since the launch of Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War and the game still seems to have some serious problems on the Xbox consoles. The 0x87de272b error that previously avoided some Xbox Series X|S players from playing the game, now is preventing even more people on both current and last generation consoles of Xbox.

The error apparently occurs whenever that Call of Duty servers detect an unauthorized action on the client’s side, but it seems something is actually wrong with the game’s side as more and more players around the world are facing the same issue. Currently, there’s no official fix to solve the problem neither from Microsoft nor Treyarch, but some players have suggested using alternative Xbox accounts as a temporary solution. Xbox consoles allow you to have multiple accounts on your console, but the progression of different accounts cannot be carried over to each other.

As one of the Xbox Ambassadors has mentioned earlier this month in a related thread on Microsoft’s forum, the errors starting with 0x87 are mostly related to the licensing issues and downloaded content. So, make sure to visit this Microsoft guide on such errors, including 0x87de272b, if you are one of the many players facing the same problem.

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War is now available on PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game received its Season One content a few months earlier and the mysterious teasers for the beginning of Season Two are already visible in Call of Duty Warzone. New operators, more new maps, new modes, new weapons, and some overall technical improvements are expected to be added to the game by the arrival of Season Two. The game’s most recent League Play mode could also host some changes or improvements in the next season.
