Though the first half of the year has been upended in significant ways by the coronavirus pandemic, this spring has still been a great one for video games. Several long-anticipated games have finally made their way to gamers everywhere, including the highly-anticipated Final Fantasy VII Remake. As a reimagining of a JRPG classic, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the game sold incredibly well on the PlayStation Store last month.
Over on the PlayStation Blog, the charts for the top-selling digital games on PlayStation Store were officially revealed. As expected, Final Fantasy VII Remake came out on top as the best-selling digital title on the PlayStation Store last month on the US chart, and came in at #4 in Europe. April 2020 was a busy month for new game releases, but it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that Final Fantasy VII Remake would end up coming out on top. While the PlayStation Store charts only account for digital sales, FFVII Remake shipped a total of 3.5 million copies within its first few days on sale. Likewise, many of April’s other big releases made their way onto the charts, with Resident Evil 3 charting at #6 in the US, the remastered campaign of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 coming in at #5, and Predator: Hunting Grounds debuting at #14.
