For a few hours now, all Nintendo online services are down, experiencing a huge network failure.

Nintendo announced via its Japanese Twitter account for customer support that network failures are happening to all Nintendo online services. Nintendo Online is down and can’t be accessed, Nintendo Eshop is down, and you can’t play your favorite games online on Switch. The Japanese tweet mentions that failures started happening on March 17 at 17:56 JST. The same is happening in France as well and in other countries. I’ve just powered up my Switch myself, tried connecting to the Eshop, and after the usual orange loading, I got an error code.

Nintendo of Europe communicated on the issue as well, confirming it’s a worldwide problem, and how it should be solved as soon as possible. The company is asking for everyone’s patience as the situation is rectified:

Nintendo of America hasn’t communicated on the issue yet. It’s unclear what could have caused this huge failure. It definitely is a bummer in the current situation, where everyone is staying home, contributing to the fight against COVID-19.

We’ll be sure to update this article and keep you in touch if we learn more about this Nintendo network failure incident.

Update: Nintendo has fixed the network issue, the Nintendo Eshop is back online and doesn’t kick you out after a few seconds.
