Red Dead Redemption 2 PC Update to Fix Stuttering and Other Issues

Love it or hate it, Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 is one of the most ambitious and graphically stunning games to ever release. With the PC version, players were probably hoping to get to play the cowboy simulator at the highest quality possible. Instead, it has been marred by a slew of technical issues. It seems Rockstar is very aware of this and is currently working on a Red Dead Redemption 2 PC update to fix these issues.

Rockstar Games released a statement on its official Twitter account detailing the whole ordeal and how the company plans to fix the issues moving forward. Split into four pages, the first makes it clear that Rockstar Games has been working on improvements to Red Dead Redemption 2 “as quickly as possible.” In fact, it is stated that they have found and fixed some of these issues and they have already been implemented to the game.

The second page of the statement iterates that Rockstar Games is aware that there is a “small number” of PC players who are still having stuttering issues. This may be caused by specific combinations of Nvidia graphics drivers, Nvidia GPU cards and certain CPUs. As such, an update will release to address the stuttering issue, as well as other fixes. However, Rockstar Games is currently working Nvidia to further address this issue with a future update that will hopefully fix stuttering altogether.

The third and fourth pages are essentially apologies for the game’s troubling launch. If you do have problems, you can go to the support page to see if any of the troubleshooting methods there help. To make up for the rocky launch of the Red Dead Redemption 2 PC release, anyone who plays the game on PC this week will receive a care package for Red Dead Online. This will include the Prieto Poncho, and other provisions and ammo. More details on the complimentary reward will come at a later date.

If a free poncho sounds cool, you can pick up Red Dead Redemption 2 on PC right now. Alternatively, you cannot play a broke version of the game on Xbox One and PS4.
