Anthem Players Are Trying to Organize a Protest this Week to Revert Loop Drop Changes

This past weekend, those playing Anthem found themselves getting far more loot than at any other time in the game’s short life. These more frequent loot drops were initially thought to have been a new addition to Anthem but it turns out that the drops were only occurring so often because of a bug. Come Saturday when BioWare pushed out the game’s latest patch, this bug was fixed leaving those who were loving this iteration of the loot system frustrated and upset.

Now, players on the Anthem subreddit are trying to band together and boycott the game throughout this upcoming week to prove to BioWare that the frequent loot drops that were seen as a “bug” need to return. In a post on the subreddit from user u/Supp0rt, they suggested that players stop playing Anthem for the entirety of this week from March 11 through the 15th.

“Get your point across, simple as that,” said the original post in question. “Stop Playing the game for a whole Week (Hopefully with the support of the entire Subreddit) to show BioWare that all it’d take for us to really enjoy the game, is to receive loot.”

Since this post has gone live, it has immediately jumped to the top of the Anthem subreddit. Some speaking in the post have agreed with the proposed “Blackout” while others have said that they already stopped playing Anthem anyway. “Jokes on you. I stopped playing last week,” said one reply in the thread. Another poster pointed out that with the arrival of Ubisoft’s The Division 2 this week, they expect Anthem numbers to drop drastically as it is, Blackout or not.

Regardless of whether or not the Anthem community on Reddit sticks to this supposed protest this week, one thing seems to ring true from everyone: the game’s loot system has to be changed. Complaints about loot and the frequency of drops seem to be the biggest single complaint that most of Anthem‘s players have at the moment. And in a game centered entirely around loot, that’s a rather big issue to have.

We’ll have to wait and see if BioWare plans on adjusting the current loot system any time soon or if they’ll respond directly to this protest. Anthem is currently available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
