Earlier today, Ubisoft made the shocking announcement that Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 for PC would be skipping a Steam release in favor of one on the Epic Games Store. While other games from smaller developers have previously declared exclusivity, this is the first major upcoming AAA game to do so. Following that announcement, a new video was released by Ubisoft to discuss the PC version of Tom Clancy’s The Division 2.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 Technical Director Calle Lejdfors begins by emphasize that the game was developed directly for PC alongside the console versions of the game, so players don’t have to worry about it being a half-baked port. Developing directly for PC has also allowed the developers at Massive Entertainment to implement some great and customizable features that they may have otherwise not been able to.

Some of these things include 4K, HDR, and variable refresh rate. The game is also set to support both widescreen and multiscreen displays as well as Eyefinity. For those of you who obsess over the frame rate and resolution of games, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 will have uncapped frame rate and resolution.

After that, Associate Producer Jamie Cardwell discusses improvements to PC text chat and custom HUD. Ubisoft also reveals that they have partnered with AMD to optimize the game even further and implement things like asynchronous compute and multithreading of command buffers.
