Today is a harsh day for fan of gacha games on mobile platforms. After the announcement of the closure of the American version of Hironobu Sakaguchi’s Terra Battle 2, Muv-Luv fans will have one less way to enjoy the franchise as well. DMM and âge announced today the impending closure of Muv-Luv Alternative: Strike Frontier.

The service will end on July 5th, 2018, as the developer expresses deepest gratitude to the players, alongside its apologies for the sudden announcement.

âge mentions that the staff felt the enthusiasm from their partner at DMM about a mobile game with a Muv-Luv theme, and they also had high hopes for its success. Unfortunately, after consultation between the two companies, they have come to the conclusion that continuing to operate the title would be difficult. This comes at an unfortunate time since the team was working on chapter two of the story.

That being said, the announcement isn’t fully negative. We hear that thanks to the support of the fans Muv-Luv content will continue to come in the future. The development of various other things is planned, and âge is working hard on them. Despite this, Muv-Luv will continue, and the studio is thankful for its fans’ continued patronage.

As a sign of gratitude for the fans, a “small gift” is being prepared and will be released on the studio’s official site after the closure of the game.

Luckily, the game isn’t just going away in the darkness as many mobile games do, and today a new event was released in order to go out with a bang. Two new missions titled “Beta Invasion” and “TSF Trials” will be available until the game’s closure.

TSF trials lets you drop the super-powerful F-47 Ishkur 8th Generation TSF that is featured in the “New Beginning” story planned in the future of the Muv-Luv Alternative universe. Beta Invasion drops SSR tickets that can be used with two new gacha pools that include pretty much all the pilots and TSF ever released in the game.

Among the drops, there are also affection boosters, limit break, and skill up items. Basically, this will let players unlock everything there is to unlock in the game with a bit of effort.

This is the second Muv-Luv mobile game to close its service in about three years. Muv-Luv Next Answer lasted exactly a year, while Muv-Luv Alternative: Strike Frontier had a slightly longer timespan following its release in September 2016.

This is certainly unfortunate. You probably know how much I adore the Muv-Luv series, and that I enjoyed this game quite a bit. It’s probably the first time in my life that I am sad for the closure of a mobile gacha game.
