Well, I’ll be honest, this is news that I really didn’t expect to get. Last night, during the Yu-Gi-Oh! Jump Festa livestream, Konami announced that Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution would be getting a new content update, the first since the game was released a few months ago.

Unfortunately, as of the time of this writing, we don’t know exactly how far into the card game’s releases the update will go. That being said, Konami did show off Firewall Dragon Darkfluid, which hints that the game will now go up to the Chaos Impact booster set. That was released in Western countries back in October of this year, so we will be getting almost a year’s worth of content.

During the stream, Konami also revealed that the game will finally be coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. Both the content update and the new console versions will be coming sometime next year. While players will obviously have to pay for the new console versions, the content update coming to Nintendo Switch will be completely free, so players don’t have to worry about shelling out money for new cards like they had to with the original Legacy of the Duelist.

In addition to the new cards, Konami also confirmed new Yu-Gi-Oh! VRAINS characters that will be making their way into the game, including Blue Maiden, Soulburner (my personal favorite in the show), Revolver’s upgraded form, and the humanoid version of Ai. As of the time of this writing, it’s unknown whether or not we’ll be getting simple story duels or if Konami will finally be giving us animated cutscenes as we have with every other series in the game. My obvious hope is for the latter.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution is available right now on Nintendo Switch. While you wait for the new content update, you can read our review by clicking here and our interview with Charles Murakami, the producer on the game by clicking here.
