Sega released today a batch of (albeit rather small) new screenshots of the upcoming Yakuza 3 remaster for Ps4.

This reveal is mostly dedicated to combat, starting with unarmed battles in which beloved protagonist Kazuma Kiryu solves differences by using his well-honed fists, before moving on to weapons like katanas, sticks, and much more (Kiryu has a weak spot for bicycles, even if we don’t see them here).

Of course, one of the most relevant aspects of the battle system is heat actions, which are definitely brutal and over-the-top as usual. We’re also able to learn new ones by catching certain moments on the street, for instance taking inspiration from a drunk salaryman pole dancing on a lamppost. And yes, stuff like this does happen in Japan on a weekend night.

Last, but not least, the screenshots showcase a few city environments from the game, including Kamurocho in Tokyo, and Okinawa.

The game releases in Japan on August 8th and doesn’t yet have a western launch announced.

You can check them all out below, and watch the first trailer. If you’re unfamiliar with the series, you can also read our review of its latest releaseYakuza 6: The Song of Life. You can grab a copy on Amazon. If you already have the last chapter of Kazuma Kiryu Adventures, you can pre-order Yakuza Kiwami 2.
