Xenoblade Chronicles 2 Sales Exceeded Developers Expectations Outside of Japan

Monolith Soft, News, Switch, Xenoblade Chronicles 2

It looks like the JRPG Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and its recently released DLC Torna: The Golden Country sold well outside of Japan, even exceeding expectations from Monolith Soft.

During an interview with USGamer, Monolith Soft Executive Director Tetsuya Takahashi answered a few questions about their latest entry into the series. Takahashi stated:

“From a sales perspective, I have to say Xenoblade Chronicles 2 exceeded my expectations. We really saw more people pick the game up and experience it in the North American and European territories than we thought would do so.”

Takahashi expanded on the recently released DLC Torna: The Golden Country as well:

“It’s still early days for the Torna DLC, but from what we’ve seen in Japan, the sales of the Torna DLC are exceeding our expectations as well”

The success of the title can probably lead to the assumption that Monolith Soft will continue to build upon the series. At least I would assume that. The original game is sitting at a 92 on Metacritic and the sequel has a respectable 83. We know that they can create excellent games so I can’t see them stopping on the series.

Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is currently available on the Nintendo Switch.
