World of Goo Receives Its First PC Update in 10 Years

News, Originals, PC, Tomorrow Corporation, World of Goo

The classic indie title World of Goo has been around for quite some time now. It has been out for so long that it hadn’t received an update on PC in 10 years. Well, until now.

To call this an update is a little underselling it. You could even call it a remaster as well. The update is coming to every platform the game is available on during this week and next week. The update includes improved framerate, 16:9 display because the original ran at 4:3, as well as an HD makeover. The original’s resolution was 800×600.

It is worth noting that technically nothing new is being added to World of Goo. The update is more of just a polish of the already great game. There are no new levels or challenges being added. The notes actually joked that there will not be a battle royal deathmatch mode either.  However, it is still very neat to see a game get support a full 10 years after it was first released. If you want to take a deeper look at the full update, you can take a look at the notes right here.

Thinking back, I wonder what other titles I would like to see an update for that are over 10 years old. It would be pretty funny to jump back into Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare if Infinity Ward updated the game to bring back the multiplayer bug that placed everyone on Shipment. Boy, I remember all my friends complaining about it, but, I sure did have a fun time running around blasting my shotgun.
