Cyberpunk 2077 is probably our most anticipated game with a futuristic-cybernetic theme, but there are more promising projects with the same background that you shouldn’t miss. The Ascent is just one of the many.

Revealed during the latest episode of Inside Xbox, The Ascent gives birth to a dense and compact cyberpunk world, where everything is on the edge of annihilation. Set in the futuristic city of Veles run by The Ascent Group, you are a worker of the company, doing everything that you’re up to without any option to reject a task. But things never stay the same. For some reason, The Ascent Group falls, security systems go off, and all the workers and slaves of the company regain their consciousness. Now it’s on you to survive a huge mess and save the city from the invasion of other mega-corporations.

Powered by Unreal Engine 4, The Ascent is playable in both solo and co-op modes, allowing you to create your own character, customize your gears and weapons, and go through a deadly path in the packed locations of Veles. The Ascent will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC sometime this year, and it will support smart delivery. If you are going to play it on PC, make sure to check out the game’s system requirements via its Steam page. The game is developed by Neon Giant as their debut project and will be published by Curve Digital.

Despite revealing a few scenes from its gameplay, personally, I’m eager to see more about The Ascent‘s gameplay elements as its one of my favorites premiers during today’s Inside Xbox episode. The game is apparently a Microsoft-exclusive at launch, but it seems it won’t be available on Xbox Game Pass day-one as the reveal trailer didn’t mention it in the subtitles.
