It’s been quite some time since we last heard about Rise & Shine, the 2D sidescrolling run-n-gun platformer by developer Super Awesome Hyper Dimensional Mega Team (frequently shortened to “Super Mega Team”) and publisher Adult Swim Games. The game made an early splash on current generation consoles over a year ago in January 2017, however Super Mega Team is hoping to bring the title back in the spotlight by teasing a potential Nintendo Switch release.

News comes from Super Mega Team’s official Twitter account, following an enigmatic post about something being “Switchalive!!”

Given that Rise & Shine is Super Mega Team’s only published game, it wasn’t hard to put two-and-two together. However, how certain is the project? Responding to fans and press via Twitter, it isn’t entirely certain what the fate of the project is. Super Mega Team mentions that the port is “hanging on a thread” however progress is starting to show after two weeks of work:

Little else is known about this potential Nintendo Switch port of Rise & Shine, so we will keep you updated on any emerging details. When DualShockers played the original game last year, we awarded it a 6.5 out of 10 noting that it is a pop-culture laden platformer with an anti-militaristic message.

If there is one recurring theme from the past few months, it is that Nintendo Switch ports revealed via Twitter are so hot right now. For instance, this includes inXile Entertainment’s Wasteland 2 and Chubby Pixel’s Suicide Guy. A fact that shouldn’t be surprising given the somewhat-regular confirmation that sales are notably high for indie games on Nintendo’s handheld home console.

For those who aren’t looking to wait, Rise & Shine is currently available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
