Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn was announced roughly two years ago and now it’s finally releasing to the public. To celebrate, a video was published, making fun of itself.

“October 28, 1994. Shaq-Fu was released. It sucked. Really bad,” the video reads. Well, they’re not wrong…the original Shaq-Fu wasn’t a very good game. It was pretty good looking for a SNES game, and the story was completely off-the-wall as one would hope from a title of its kind. Unfortunately, the gameplay was pretty terrible.

This was seen as an opportunity to bring the legend back with Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn. As the trailer shows pretty clearly, it’s still just as weird and over-the-top as ever, but this time it will hopefully feature the gameplay such a title deserves.

Players will take on the role of the one and only Shaquille O’Neal. Yes, that Shaq, and he’s got awesome kung fu abilities because the 90s were just like that. As Shaq, you must take on “hordes of Hell and Hollywood.” The game seems to change up the gameplay a bit as well, mixing a fighting game with a side-scroller beat ’em up with a lovable cartoony look.

Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn is available now on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and for free for a limited time on Nintendo Switch for NBA Playgrounds owners.
