PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds drew players by the millions last year into its addictive Battle Royale-style gameplay, and now developer PUBG Corps is seeking to add some variety to the kill-or-be-killed gameplay and give players new ways to be the last one standing.

Developer PUBG Corps has announced that the new Event Mode is now available in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds‘ test server in the PC version of the game. Event Mode, similarly to Fortnite: Battle Royale‘s recent Blitz Mode, adds new custom game types that will be available for limited times.

The first of these modes will be an 8-player squad mode with an increased drop rate for assault rifles, though PUBG Corps explained that the modes will be “much more than just a preset Custom Game,” as the match types will also include new content that may be available in-game for only a limited time.

Event Mode is available now to all players of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds on PC (through the game’s test server at the moment) and while it will be unranked, players will still receive Battle Points for completing matches. In addition to Event Mode, PUBG Corps also teased the inclusion of a new item in the game’s next update, which will offer a flaregun.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds is available now on Xbox One, PC, iOS, and Android.
