New Overwatch Character Moira Announced, while Reinhardt Gets an Epic Animated Short

Today Blizzard Entertainment is celebrating its games at BlizzCon, and there is news for fans of the critically acclaimed Overwatch.

First of all, the game is getting a new heroine (or more appropriately, a villainess), Moira, who is a support hero with biotic abilities combining recovery and attack.

“Moira’s biotic abilities enable her to contribute healing or damage in any crisis. While Biotic Grasp gives Moira short-range options, her Biotic Orbs contribute longer-range, hands-off damage and healing; she can also Fade to escape groups or remain close to allies in need of support. Once she’s charged Coalescence, Moira can save multiple allies from elimination at once or finish off weakened enemies.”

On top of Moira’s announcement, we get another real treat, in the form of “Honor and Glory,” a brand new animated short starring Reinhardt, and showing a glimpse on his past. We see him fighting as a Crusader during the Robot uprisings to defend Germany against the mechanized invasion, and we learn that as a younger combatant he was quite a lot brasher.

As the death of his mentor triggers a change in young Reinhardt, the scene moves back to the moment in which the Overwatch is called back in action, and the Crusader tells Brigitte that he must answer the call, like his friend did before him.

It’s all very epic, as you’ll certainly be able to see below, alongside Moira’s introduction, her origin story video, a few screenshots showing her in action, and the introduction of a new map themed after a Blizzard theme park.

Overwatch is currently available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. If you’re unfamiliar with the game, you can check out our review.
