As we’re about to enter July and close in to the release of Neo The World Ends With You, Square Enix announced a demo for the action JRPG.

As you ponder why Square Enix didn’t announce Neo TWEWY is getting a demo at E3 when it had way more eyes paying attention instead of waiting for a few days later – though this is probably to coincide with the anime ending – let’s take a look at the demo’s details.

Another message from Tetsuya Nomura (June 25 Update)

Now that the final episode of the TWEWY anime has aired, Tetsuya Nomura shared yet another message via the English Square Enix Twitter. Nothing major but you can clearly feel how enthusiastic he is for the project, and his wish to celebrate with us fans. TWEWY was first released in 2007 and it’s really nice to see it come back for real. The demo is also now available for download on the Nintendo Eshop and the PlayStation Network.

Neo The World Ends With You demo release time, details

According to the Japanese press release from Square Enix, the Neo TWEWY demo will be launching on PS4 and Switch on June 25, 2021 at 1 PM EST. Click here for a countdown.

The Neo TWEWY demo version will include the beginning of the game, where you can explore several areas, experience the team battle system, and try out the Abilities system with the Badges system from the original game coming back.

Moreover, the demo will let players transfer their save data to the final game. Overall it looks like it’ll have a lot of content to try out and make your own opinion on this sequel.

Next, a new message from Tetsuya Nomura was published in Twitter, most notably mentioning they’re trying to avoid spoilers with the game’s promotion materials. Of course, nearly all the cast has been revealed, but that’s not considered spoilers when it comes to Japanese promotion, reliant on seiyuu. You can find the full message further below. Lastly, a new trailer was revealed, showing protagonist Rindou and several gameplay elements.

For those like me who prefer the Japanese dub, you can catch it here.

Neo: The World Ends With You will be a sequel to the ongoing anime adaption of the first game. Neku is returning alongside several Reaper characters, but most of the cast is new.

Neo The World Ends With You launches on PS4 and Switch on July 27. A PC version is also coming and will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store, and will launch a bit later than the consoles versions. Its release date is only listed as Summer 2021 for now. Meaning July-September 2021.
