Nowadays, video game rating systems all over the world seem to be better sources for reliable rumors rather than any trustworthy insider in the industry. Most recently, Saints Row: The Third Remastered was spotted on a rating system webpage before its official announcement. Now, Mafia 2 Definitive Edition is being listed by some official video game rating systems around the world, including Taiwan and South Korea.
Originally released back in 2010, Mafia 2 was the last title of the series that received huge applause from fans and media. Following the story of an Italian young man Vito Scaletta, Mafia 2 brings a mixture of crime and drama in the 1950s where Vito finds himself and his family deep in the debts of his dead father. Best know for its mesmerizing narrative, you start getting involved in organized crimes directed by different mafia families in the game.
For the fans of the franchise, nothing would be better than getting remasters for the first two entries. While remastering or remaking the first installment of the Mafia series doesn’t seem feasible, the return of Mafia 2 Definitive Edition to current-gen platforms with a graphical tweak would likely be happening sooner or later.
National video game rating committees in both Taiwan and South Korea have rated the Definitive Edition of Mafia 2 recently. While nothing has been officially revealed, if it turns out to be an existing game, more than likely, it would be a remaster of the original game with all the expansions. However, Taiwan’s committee has rated Mafia 3 Definitive Edition as well, which seems a little bit mysterious. Currently, Mafia 3 Deluxe Edition is available with all the post-launch DLCs, so the Definitive Edition might feature some graphical enhancements, regarding the fact that Mafia 3 was mostly blamed for its technical issues and outdated visuals.
Mafia 3 developer, Hanger 13, is now hiring for a new open-world IP, and according to Take-Two Interactive, they will announce their next project in the coming months.
