miHoYo held a special Chinese livestream on August 28 on Bilibili, revealing new characters, monsters and bosses in Genshin Impact. The new characters’ Japanese voice cast was revealed as well. miHoYo also revealed the PS4 version is coming September 28. Let’s take a look below.

Genshin Impact New Characters Artwork Mona

Mona, voiced by Konomi Kohara

“Fate is called as such, for it cannot be changed, nor can it be reversed. It can only but be accepted.”

Mona holds the title of “Astrologist Mona Megistus” and possess exceptional abilities to match it. She’s an erudite but prideful. Mona is also always short on money and worrying about her finances, because she doesn’t want to use astrology for profit. Mona is a Mondstadt character, her element is Hydro (water), and she uses Catalysts as weapons.

Genshin Impact New Characters Artwork Qiqi

Qiqi, voiced by Yukari Tamura

“I am Qiqi, I am a zombie. And I forgot what comes next”

Qiqi is an apprentice and herb gatherer at Bubu Pharmacy. She was “blessed” by the adepti with a body that cannot die. Qiqi is a jiāngshī. As a zombie, she needs a master to be able to act, but is her own master, so she always need to speak orders to herself first before doing anything. Qiqi has a really bad memory, so she always carries a notebook to write down anything important. Sometimes she even forgets to look at the notebook though. Qiqi is a Liyue Harbor character, her element is Cryo (Ice) and she uses one-handed swords.

Qiqi technically isn’t a new character as she makes an appearance in the Liyue story chapter 2, which was available in the Closed Beta. We didn’t know yet that she’d end up being a playable character however.

Genshin Impact New Characters Artwork Keqing

Keqing, voiced by Eri Kitamura

“Hmph. Let’s be real here, does Rex Lapis really know everything?”

Keqing is the Yuheng of the Liyue Qixing. Keqing disagrees with Rex Lapis’ unilateral approach to policymaking in Liyue, but gods actually admire skeptics as her a lot. She firmly believe humanity’s future should be decided solely by humans themselves. She believes humanity would lead itself better than what the Archons and Adepti do. She works harder than anyone to prove her thoughts. Keqing is a Liyue Harbor character, her element is Electro and she uses one-handed swords.

Rex Lapis is one of the seven Archons, the seven gods each ruling a region in Genshin Impact. The “Liyue Qixing” are the seven leaders of the Liyue region, below the Archon. “Yuheng” is Keqing’s title in the Liyue Qixing.

Genshin Impact Ningguang

In the past, Genshin Impact already introduced another member of the Liyue Qixing as a playable character: Ningguang, the “Tianquan” and “lady of the Jade Chamber”.

Yukari Tamura and Eri Kitamura are extremely popular seiyuu and it’s amazing Genshin Impact managed to secure so many big names for its Japanese cast. Konomi Kohara is pretty new and debuted in 2016. However, she gained huge popularity after voicing Chika Fujiwara in Kaguya-sama: Love Is War in 2019.

While Genshin Impact is free to play, the PS4 version has a 10$ starter pack available for preorder now on the PlayStation Store.
