With the entire real-world sports scene shut down due to the coronavirus, many are turning to their virtual counterparts. Last week, the NBA kicked off a 2K20 tournament on ESPN. And now FIFA 20 is getting in on the fun. The new Stay and Play Cup features pro players from 20 different world football clubs. It kicks off next week on EA’s Twitch account and, while FIFA 20 hasn’t been in the best state this year, it should be fun to watch pro players duke it out. Here’s hoping the servers can stay on.

You might think I’m joking about the servers, but they have gone out in the middle of a few pro eSports events this season. So, it’s an actual concern, especially given the kind of pull some of the included teams have. We don’t yet know exactly which players are competing, but we do know the clubs. Massive teams like Liverpool, Manchester City, PSG, Dortmund, and Real Madrid are throwing their hat into the ring. It really is something of a who’s who in European world football. Outside of a few teams, most clubs were playing Champions League football at some point during this season.

Of course, just because the players suit up for top-flight teams doesn’t mean they’re going to be great FIFA 20 players. That said, these are the teams that bring in massive fanbases. The cup is a single-elimination tournament and EA is donating $1 million to Global Giving’s Coronavirus Relief Fund. Which, regardless of the quality of the on-screen football is certainly a worthy cause.

If you’re missing football as much as me, the FIFA 20 Stay and Play Cup launches on Twitch April 15 at 9 am PT. FIFA 20 is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
