Ubisoft already has a bunch of anticipated titles in development, which is exciting, but the negative part is none of them has an exact release date yet. The company’s Ubisoft Forward event is expected to reveal the release date for all of the confirmed projects so far while revealing some other unannounced titles such as Far Cry 6.
According to new rumors coming from GameReactor, Ubisoft is planning to officially announce Far Cry 6 during its E3 alternative showcase on July 12th. As per the source, Far Cry 6 will feature a more exotic location this time around, which is not the US. The game is expected to launch before April 2021 for both current-gen and next-gen consoles, but the COVID-19 challenges might force the developers to push it back to a later window.
If you take a look back at the release dates of the Far Cry entries over the last years, Ubisoft usually intends to bring the mainline iterations once in four years, however, this rule once interrupted with Far Cry 4 which was released only two years after its predecessor. Launching Far Cry 6 in early 2021 means that it is about to arrive three years after Far Cry 5, which makes sense considering the arrival of next-gen consoles later this year.
Far Cry 5 was big progress for Ubisoft after Far Cry Primal, introducing some new features in the series for the first time and delivering a fun and easy-to-learn gameplay style which makes you feel comfortable with everything in the game. That said, it’s still standing far behind Far Cry 3 which is considered as the best entry of the franchise so far.
Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Watch Dogs Legion, Rainbow Six Quarantine, Beyond Good and Evil 2, Skull & Bones, Roller Champions, and Gods & Monsters are some of the Ubisoft’s announced projects that we expect to learn more about during the upcoming Ubisoft Forward event on July 12.
