With the much anticipated March 27th release of Far Cry 5 so close, information is becoming more readily available. This week, Ubisoft answered two questions about the game to GameSpot. Far Cry 5 will utilize microtransactions, and an internet connection will not be necessary for the game’s full campaign.

Since other Ubisoft games like Assassin’s Creed Origins have also included microtransactions in their gameplay, it is not surprising that Far Cry 5 would have them, but executive producer Dan Hay adamantly stated,

“We’ve set the game up to be generous. We’ve set the game up so.. .nothing is locked [away]. You can go out and explore, and the game will reward you for your exploration.”

Ubisoft’s PR expanded by stating that players can use microtransactions to speed up their progress. If Far Cry 5 is anything like Assassin’s Creed Origins, then most anything obtained by microtransactions other than cosmetic items would be available through normal gameplay.

As for the question of the necessity of an internet connection, Ubisoft also confirmed that the full campaign will be playable offline.  However, co-op gameplay and any of the game’s online components will obviously need to be connected to the internet.

Far Cry 5 will launch on March 27th for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
