Square Enix streamed the first “Dragon Quest XI S Cast Presentation Stream” today. These streams will be coming regularly, revealing cast members for the game and new information. And on this first stream, Horii confirmed that Dragon Quest XI S will have additional story content, something everyone and their cats already guessed. Horii also specified that this additional story or stories won’t be taking place after the game’s true ending, so it’s not sequel-like story content.
While Dragon Quest XI‘s English version features English voice acting, the Japanese PS4 version, which launched before, had no voice-overs at all because series creator Yuji Horii wanted to be able to polish Dragon Quest XI‘s script until the last minute.
On the stream, they also revealed the voice actor for the Hero in Dragon Quest XI S, who is actually a voice actress, Mitsuki Saiga. Saiga often voices male characters and this isn’t surprising at all. She also often voices feminine male characters or female characters which consider themselves men, such as Hibiki Shikyouin in PriPara. You should definitely watch this along with Pretty Rhythm.
As usual, because Dragon Quest heroes are supposed to be the player, the character is still silent, except for battles cries etc, which is what Saiga voiced. And you can turn the voice off in the menu too for those who want to do the cries themselves.
We already knew for months the voice cast for the party members and main characters in Dragon Quest XI, as they appeared voiced in the mobile card game Dragon Quest Rivals.

You can hear voice samples for each character thanks to the new year fortune draw event organized by Square-Enix. A bigger list with the voices for the side characters has been revealed as well and should be added to this article later.
The original Dragon Quest XI is available now on 3Ds, PS4 and PC in Japan, and on PS4 and PC in the west. Dragon Quest XI S will launch exclusively for Nintendo Switch in 2019 in Japan, with no announcement in the west yet, but it’ll probably be 2019 too. As for Dragon Quest XII, it won’t be coming anytime soon.
