MiHoYo announced Genshin Impact, an open-world, action RPG coming to smartphones and PC. Genshin Impact is scheduled to launch in Spring 2020, and an announcement trailer was published as well. A beta test for Genshin Impact will also be held in late June, on iOS and PC. You can register for it on Genshin Impact‘s official site after answering a survey on your gaming preferences.

Genshin Impact‘s announcement trailer showcases the different playable characters, its environments, and mechanics. Some of these are clearly inspired from Zelda: Breath of The Wild, and it’ll be interesting to see if the game blindly inspired itself from it or will manage to stand on its own ground. We’ll have a beginning of an answer with the beta test in late June, as footage and screenshots from it will not be under any NDA.

It’s also important to note that Genshin Impact first started off as a manga released in 2018. Its chapters are officially available in English on Crunchyroll.

MiHoYo’s previous games include Honkai Impact 3rd, a free-to-play mobile action game with the same anime cell-shading as Genshin Impact, and gameplay similar to Platinum Games’ works.
