The life of an ant colony is a complex one. There are various roles that must be accounted for and everyone must do their duty to ensure it’s done for the good of the colony. In Slug Disco Studios’ upcoming strategy game Empires of the Undergrowth, you will be asked to ensure the colony’s survival and perhaps even its expansion.
On December 1, Empires of the Undergrowth will expand its reach into Steam’s Early Access program, giving players the opportunity to simulate a real-time ant colony, strategizing where to construct the newest tunnels, where to store food, and how best to protect the future of the brood.
The game takes place both above and below ground and is narrated through the perspective of a documentary. Construction efforts continue beneath the surface, but out in the open is where much of the action takes place. Your ants will face-off against various foes, including arachnids and even rival colonies. Ensure your queen’s safety while also gathering new resources to continue supporting and growing the best colony.
