The proverbial flood gates for Persona 5 Strikers have been lifted for those who preordered the game digitally. For the rest of us waiting on physical copies of the game, all we can do right now is avoid spoilers and speculate over what adventures await the Phantom Thieves in this new outing. After doing some touching up on the main story beats from Persona 5 in preparation, I started to wonder about the main character’s name. Obviously, he goes by Joker as a code name in palaces, but what exactly is the Persona 5 Strikers protagonist name?

As it turns out, the answer is quite easy to find. Joker’s canonical name is Ren Amamiya. This is how he’s referred to in the anime adaptation of the game Persona 5 the Animation. He also goes by this in just about every other appearance he makes.
The only time Joker doesn’t go by Ren (or the various nicknames the rest of the cast gives him) is in the manga adaptation of the game. For reasons unknown to me, Joker’s name is Akira Kurusu in the comics. He’s never referred to by that name outside the manga so it’s curious as to why it changes for that.
Of course, the name of the Persona 5 Strikers protagonist is entirely up to the player. I’ve seen a lot of people name them Ren or Akira to match their other appearances, but because the name is never spoken out loud, it doesn’t make a whole lot of difference.
