CD Projekt’s The Witcher will probably always be a video game on the lips of players. Not only due to its immersive storytelling abilities but also because of the game’s incredible lineup of compelling characters that include the likes of Geralt of Rivia and Yennefer of Vengerberg. Since its release in 2015, The Witcher 3 has now sold around 28 million copies which is a truly amazing feat for the polish developer and publisher. In those almost five years since, artists have been drawn to The Witcher 3‘s in-depth fantasy world and who could really blame them? Illustrator and concept artist Carolina Oliveira takes us all on an artistic trip in her anime version of the popular game.

Carolina who’s from Lisbon, Portugal has turned our most beloved characters from The Witcher 3 into an anime sketch. From someone who isn’t overly interested in anime as a whole, I found myself falling in love with Carolina’s very talented fan-art approach to the series and I’m so impressed with how well it actually works. As seen over on her Instagram, she showcases her range of Witcher characters from the beautiful Yennefer in her quintessential black and lacy attire to Geralt of Rivia sitting in the bathtub in his most famous scene from the game and second most iconic dialog of “Hmm”. Carolina has also adapted a young Ciri from the hit Netflix TV Show as she stands in front of Geralt asking “Who’s Yennefer?”.

Throughout her many The Witcher anime adaptions, you’ll notice a lot of familiar faces especially so if you have watched the Netflix show, but The Witcher fan art isn’t Carolina’s only talent. Scattered among the images you’ll also notice that she has a knack for creating Game of Thrones digital fan art also that shows off the likes of Dracarys, Melisandre, Lord Baelish (little finger), and Ygritte – basically, the entire cast is all there. For the Legend of Zelda fans out there, Carolina also took inspiration from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and incorporated a Studio Ghibli background in her artwork. There’s probably very little this obviously gifted artist can’t do! I’ll be certain to keep a close eye on whatever else she decides to come out with next.

If you enjoy a bit of mobile gaming, CD Projekt Red announced a few weeks ago that Android users can finally get in on the action and give Gwent: The Witcher Card Game a go. The Android version of Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is a turn-based card game between two players, with each game taking three rounds. Each player must play one card each turn from a deck of at least twenty-five cards. Each deck belongs to a faction that offers different play styles. As someone who’s pretty much addicted to it, I can say that I’m really enjoying it quite a lot.

At the start of the year, Netflix finally confirmed that an animated series called The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf was in the works. The official synopsis states that the show will focus on Vesemir: “Long before mentoring Geralt, Vesemir begins his own journey as a witcher after the mysterious Deglan claims him through the Law of Surprise.”. The team behind the animated series is the Witcher’s Lauren S. Hissrich and Beau DeMayo and lead animation going to Studio Mir, behind Legend of Korra and Voltron: Legendary Defender. Who knows when this will all be ready for viewing as Netflix’s The Witcher season two has officially been suspended by Netflix to protect its cast and crew from the coronavirus. If you have yet to watch Netflix’s The Witcher, I highly suggest you do – it was certainly one of my favorite shows of 2019.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
