You’ll never forget the fear you felt when you first heard those chilling whistles seeping out from The Last of Us Part 2’s dark forest.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, eight months on from The Last of Us Part 2‘s release and we are still finding out things about this game. It’s crazy. It only goes to show how much detail and depth Naughty Dog really put into this title but how much more will we keep finding out about?

As Easter Eggs, references and tricks start to appear from the hard-hitting game, a fan has now unearthed a really unique aspect buried within The Last of Us Part 2‘s Scar whistles.

The Last of Us Part 2 Scar Whistles

Over on Reddit, user CasualCleverCow first spotted (that we know of) this unusual whistling event when Ellie and Abby encounter them. When Ellie comes across a group of Scars, the in-game subtitles show up as “**strange whistle**” or “**high pitched whistle**”

But when the player jumps into the shoes of Abby, the whistling subtitles will read completely differently and a lot more specific like **calling whistle**” or “**danger whistle**”

As pointed out by GamesRadar, the difference in Abby’s whistles could be down to her WLF background due to them being at war with the Scars and already knowing what the whistles mean from her training as an ex-Firefly, too.

Since this would be the first time Ellie would have heard the whistles, her understanding of them is limited and she’s only able to discipher the whistles as strange sounds.
