Nintendo has slowly and rather silently been pushing their Nintendo Labo VR Kit by adding support to their first-party games, with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate due to be the latest title in this push. Along with that, the 3.1.0 update will add some new features for the game’s Amiibo fighters. Finally, expect yet another new Spirit Board event, with “Super Smash Sisters” focusing on the heroines from Nintendo franchises.
The news comes from an in-game notification leaked online:

Previously, Nintendo Labo VR Kit support came to Super Mario Odyssey and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. VR features were a bit limited in Odyssey, but Breath of the Wild allowed players to experience the entire game through the Labo VR headset. We probably won’t know much about how Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will utilize the kit, other than it will bring “a whole new perspective on the Smash action.” Maybe VR will finally let us know what it looks like to get kicked in the head by Bayonetta from a first-person perspective.
Those with Amiibo fighters will have more opportunities to send them into combat—they can send them onto “journeys to train” through the “Games & More” menu, where they’ll compete against other Amiibo fighters (or FPs). Additionally, they can also fight online with human players in Battle Arenas—you’ll soon be able to bring on your FP is a wingman as you beat the snot out of your friends.
This won’t be the end for Labo VR support for Nintendo Switch software—recently, Unity added support for the Labo VR Kit, meaning that developers can port their games running on Unity to the Switch and support virtual reality. We can also expect new and upcoming titles on Unity to do so as well.
Also, be on the lookout for that “Super Smash Sisters” Spirits event, as it may be your opportunity to nab Legendary Spirits like Pyra, Mythra, and Krystal. The event will also a brand new Spirit based off of Peachette, though no Bowsette to be seen anywhere. The Spirit event will run from May 31 to June 5. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, apparently the best-selling fighting game, is exclusive to the Nintendo Switch.
