Kazuha is out in Genshin Impact as the first playable character originally from Inazuma, and his seiyuu Shimazaki Nobunaga finally managed to pull him.

In case you haven’t been following the seiyuu scene, Nobunaga Shimazaki’s popularity exploded these past few years. Seeing he voiced one after another major roles from Eugeo in Sword Art Online to Mahito in Jujutsu Kaisen. He’s over 1 million followers on Twitter now, so of course, many fans, myself included, were watching his feed today, waiting for the good news on Kazuha.

Nobunaga Shimazaki pulls Kazuha

Shimazaki has been these past few days retweeting all the info about Kazuha, so yo could tell he was really impatient for his release. That, or Aoni Production really pressured him into promoting himself and to not miss this huge chance.

Nobunaga Shimazaki tweeted “Yeesssss” only around one hour after the Kazuha banner launched on the Asia server, celebrating his pull. So he pretty much pulled right away. He also shared another screenshot with how he C6’ed Razor.

Seiyuu who play Genshin Impact

Besides Shimazaki, I do know Rie Tanaka (Lisa) plays the game from time to time, and used to stream it back when it released as well. However, I get the feeling that most of the seiyuu voicing characters in Genshin Impact actually don’t play the game much. As far as I know, I feel like a lot of seiyuu tend to avoid playing Sociage (Social games, the common name for games with gacha systems in Japan) where they voice one of the character themselves.

With that said, both Aoi Yuuki, who voices Lumine, and Shun Horie, who voices Aether, play Genshin. Though they’re peculiar examples seeing their characters are nearly silent outside battle.

Aoi Yuuki has been playing since as far as October, so pretty soon after the official release on September 28, 2020. She regularly shares news of her “shotapa” (party of shotas only). And notice she actually picked Aether instead of Lumine. Goes with what I just said about seiyuu generally not playing gacha games with their characters.

Aoi Yuuki and Shun Horie actually play Genshin Impact together too. Back in May 2021, she tweeted they were doing some Windtrace runs together (the hide and seek minigame in case you’ve forgotten). Aoi Yuuki also confirmed Shun Hoie picked Lumine as the Traveler on his account.

How do you feel about Kazuha’s Japanese voice? You can always hit me up on Twitter to chat about seiyuu and random otaku stuff.

Genshin Impact is available on PlayStation, PC, mobile, and is adding the Inazuma region with its July 21 update. We’ll hear more soon during the usual live stream.
